General Summary:
The Assistant Community Coordinator (ACC) is responsible for community development and co-curricular education within a residential community of approximately 300 students. The ACC will be ultimately responsible for the supervision of 6 Resident Assistants during the academic year and assist supervision of 4 Summer Assistants during conferencing season. The ACC will report directly to the Coordinator for Residential Education. This is a live-in position for Spring semester 2022.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Train, supervise and evaluate 6 Resident Assistants during the Spring semester and assist with supervision of 4 Summer Assistants during the summer (contingent on continued employment opportunities)
- Responsible for the overall administration of a residential community of approximately 300 students
- Implement and enforce policy with regard to safety and security housing- wide
- Serve on a University Housing-wide 24 hour on-call duty rotation and assist with crisis management as appropriate
- Develop partnerships across academic disciplines for the implementation of living learning communities
- Assist in departmental marketing through regular participation in major campus recruitment events
- Assist with development and implementation of long and short-term strategic departmental programs
- Implement and oversee the University Housing Activity Model with student-staff and attend these programs and functions.
- Manage applicable budgets for areas of responsibility, committees and/or special projects
- Collaborate with the other University Housing Coordinators to plan and implement the Resident Assistant trainings
- In collaboration with Guest Services, Assist the Summer Housing Coordinator in managing University Housing summer guest operations including check-ins and departures (contingent upon continued employment opportunities)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Resident Assistant experience in university student housing or relevant higher education program required
- Work with culturally diverse populations, student supervision, advising, and fiscal management preferred
- Public speaking, training design and facilitation, and judicial affairs experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Education, Training and Skills:
- Knowledge of SUU University Housing
- Proficiency in various office software packages including word processing, spreadsheets and email
- Proficiency in working with Google products (email, sites, docs, calendar), and familiarity with Facebook Groups
- Knowledge of Adirondack Solutions software including Housing Director and Conduct Coordinator preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication
